wachtrijcollectief
artistic duo formed with artist Jolien Pittoors in 2018
bio
(ENG) As young artists, we experience a collective need for collaboration. From this collective urge arose the 'Wachtrijcollectief'. While waiting in an endless line for the checkout at the Kruidvat, we suddenly realized the symbolic poetry that waiting entails. Waiting is a collective pain that is often turned into virtue. When you stand in line once more, turn around and greet your back neighbor. Ignore the hierarchy of the checkout line and don't let the bar between your different products separate you. Deliberately interact and converse. The 'Wachtrijcollectief' will fluctuate and triumph because of the diversity of personalities and products.

My Favourite Sense is Touch

'My Favourite Sense Is Touch' centers around (deprivation of) touch, researching the different stages of wool, comfort, and intimacy.
"I lay my new half-finished crochet blanket on my knees. I run my hand over it. The texture hits my skin like something I've never experienced before. The last time somebody touched me was 44 days ago. Sometimes, waking up, I feel like in an embrace. Then I don't want to get up. I want something other than washing water and my own hands to touch my face and my shoulders, and my waist, my neck, my hair. I want to feel the world the way I'm used to again."

The performance was shown at the Open Days of Bac Art Lab on March 30th 2022

Performance: Laura Kušķe
For their residency at BAC Art Lab, the Wachtrijcollectief wanted to focus on the sensibility and friction of wool felting and translate it into human body dynamics.
Laura Kušķe is a dancer/choreographer from Latvia. Dealing with topics such as social delight, misfitting, and sense of belonging, a search for genuineness and explorations of aesthetic connection with the audience thread through her work.

sound and light performance
collaboration with belgian psychedelic rock band Onionfuzz
At the start of dusk our lights go on, a tragic symbolism of the expiration of the sun. T.H.T. best before absolute darkness, but needs to be consumed during the fall of dusk. The sun expires in our lamps, playing on a surface of changing fabrics.
